Intermodal & Multimodal Logistics

When it comes to optimally combining cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and flexibility, intermodal and multimodal transport solutions are the first choice. We combine road, rail, sea, and air transport to ensure your supply chains run smoothly while conserving resources.

More than just freight: Transparent logistics across all transport routes

With our many years of experience in route planning and our access to an international network, we coordinate your transports across multiple modes of transport – reliably, on time and with full transparency.

Practical example

Practical example

For an international wholesaler, we combine transport from Asia to Switzerland using multiple modes of transport. The containers are shipped by sea to the European port, then transported by rail inland, and finally delivered by truck for the last mile. This coordinated transport chain, along with the use of electric trucks, allows us to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions while ensuring stable delivery times, even with fluctuating port availability and onward transport.

FAQ

What is the difference between intermodal and multimodal?

Intermodal: Changing modes of transport without transshipment of the freight (e.g., the container remains the same). Multimodal: Combining different modes of transport, also with transshipment.

Is intermodal logistics always the more cost-effective solution?

Not necessarily. Intermodal logistics is particularly efficient when the respective strengths of the individual modes of transport are specifically combined – for example, over long distances, with predictable supply chains, or with sustainable transport strategies. This creates an optimal balance between costs, speed, and environmental impact.

What CO₂ savings are possible?

Depending on the route and combination, CO₂ emissions can be significantly reduced compared to pure road transport.

Can I also integrate air freight into an intermodal concept?

Yes, we also combine air freight with other modes of transport when it makes sense in terms of time and logistics.
